In this class, you are in the driver’s seat. You are free to write your stories, change your mind, get inspired, ask for help, …whatever you need. Participants share the creative process of writing, guided by an experienced teacher and writer. You will strengthen your writing skills and make progress on your stories in a supportive, safe group.

Much of the writing done in high school is structured for you by the teacher, but in this class you will have time and space to write what YOU want to write, alongside other students who also want to write. You will receive support and individual feedback that will help you become a better writer and will be a part of a supportive group of writers that cares about each other’s work.

What you can expect:

  • Learn in a supportive, small-group setting where you get to know each other (5-8 students)
  • Improve your skills and get inspired through a short lesson or topic discussion each week before writing
  • 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to write
  • An opportunity each class session to share what you wrote (always optional) and receive feedback

What you will gain:

  • Time – This class is a time and place to step outside of the pressures of life and drop into timeless focus to write.
  • Momentum – You will gain momentum on your story as the weeks progress.
  • Learning – Each week we will discuss a specific tool or skill for strong writing. You will build your skills as you write.
  • Community – Writing is often a solitary act, and writing in a group can bring connection and support that adds joy and productivity to the process.
  • Accomplishment – You can set your own goals and reach them.

Limited Seating

This class is in-person and is limited to 10 participants.
